Our Mission
Ebenezer Church is a community of believers dedicated to announcing the good news of gospel of Jesus Christ to our neighbors, both locally and around the world. Our mission is to grow in faith by practicing personal holiness (acts of worship) and social holiness (acts of mercy). Whether you're seeking spiritual growth, fellowship, or a place to belong, you are welcome here. Join us as we worship, learn, and serve together in faith.
Our Beliefs
Our faith is in our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. This faith is not new or novel, but has been handed down to us by the saints who have gone before us. As such, we profess our beliefs in accordance with our Wesleyan theological heritage and with the voices of centuries of Christians as set forth in the ancient Creeds, specifically the Apostle’s Creed. Therefore, we unequivocally state our faith to be synonymous with the following statement:
- We believe in God, the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth;
- And in Jesus Christ his only Son, our Lord;
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, dead, and buried;
he descended into hell;
the third day he rose from the dead;
he ascended into heaven,
and sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
- We believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy universal church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.
Our History
Ebenezer began its faith journey almost 250 years ago as a brush arbor and Methodist Meeting House near its current location. By the early 1800s it was a Methodist Episcopal Church, receiving regular ministerial appointments from the Methodist Conference. After a denominational merger in the 1930s, Ebenezer became a Methodist Church.
Ebenezer continued as a Methodist Church until the denominational merger of 1968 when it became Ebenezer United Methodist Church. Ebenezer served faithfully as a United Methodist congregation until June of 2023.
With a desire to control their own destiny and follow their God-inspired mission, Ebenezer prayerfully disaffiliated from the United Methodist denomination to continue as an independent church. In the time since, Ebenezer has lived into their calling and God has used the congregation to be a beacon of gospel hope in our community.
Our story continues as God continues to write it. The question is, will you be part of that story? If so, please come experience God's love and life changing Spirit with us!
